Six and a half months later since the release of Bang Zoom Crazy Hello and the album is finally coming off my personal "power rotation", so to speak I was listening to the full album several times a week for the first three, four months. I still hear several of the songs regularly as I have some on my mp3 player, though.

That said, what's your thoughts on the album after living with it for so many months?  For me...
  • I still don't like the cover
  • Love the booklet though, great to have the lyrics in there
  • I can't say where this ranks with all of Cheap Trick's albums, but I do like it more than The Latest
  • I probably could have done without "In Crowd" and preferred an original in that slot
  • The new songs sound good live
  • "No Direction Home" still sounds to me as fresh as the first time I heard it. It's an instant mood-enhancer
  • Love the overall sound of the album - it definitely has a snap and an energy to it - brash and big
  • "Sun Never Sets" never fails to put me in a good mood.
And now, I think I'm due to listen to it again...

I kind of got tired of it by the end of summer. It doesn't have lasting power as the last couple albums, imo. I'm giving it a rest for now. Maybe this winter I'll start to listen to it again. I guess the album seems a little stale because I was already familiar with 2/3rds of it before it came out.

I feel much the same way.  I liked it quite a bit at first, but it didn't stay with me as long as Rockford did.
I still like it...Sometimes giving it a break and see if you come back to it is also key. "Sun Never Sets" is a classic tune from them. The chorus reverberates in the brain for days after a listen...Can't wait for the next album...These guys still are great.
Who works harder and tours more????? Planning an album release around the HOF induction was brilliant....Throwing your bandname on picks to crowd is also pretty cool. RockOn/Cheap trick!!
After six months for me the album is a grower, i'm still listening to it.
My favorites are:
The in crowd(yes it is), The sun never sets, and all strung out.
Then I like the rest of the songs, less favorite are the bonus tracks, arabesque, and i'd give it up.
I hammered it for a good while and haven't played for a few months, apart from the odd track (the last few on the CD and the bonus tracks).

Waiting on the new one.
It's one of the six CDs in my car since it came out.
Still one of their best CD's

Still don't care for 'The In Crowd'

Still think 'Blood Red Lips' should have been the single - its a fun power-pop song & was the best choice to have a fun video attached to it & work off all the RnRHoF hype
Instead they release a song that sounds nothing like CT (even though it is a solid song) & a video that was boring & had no energy.
The lasting effect of Trick is they are still fun & energetic ... 'Tomorrow' was a horrendous choice to break the CD

I think they should have made "No Direction" the de facto first single, with an official video, and really hammered that one. I can hear that song being used in a commercial someday...
I agree with Steve. No Direction definitely should have been the more popular single. It is a classic Cheap Trick song. It also sounds to me like it could have come from Rockford or even The Latest.
Love it! Still in heavy rotation in my car.  Did I mention that I love it?!
Although to the OP, The Latest is one of my favorite albums of all time!! So there!
I still enjoy most of it, though their choice of single is my least favorite... I am in the BRL crowd for a single. It's fun and poppy and could have been a video of all pics and vidclips of Taylor Swift...(Hot as the sun, physically and metaphorically, and always red lips, not to mention on the same label and she's a fan.) Maybe even an occasional guest appearance duet with Robin... I know many will balk at that idea, and rest assured, I am no fan of her music, but find her undeniably hot. Yes, I am a guy... Big Grin
As for the In Crowd, I hated it at first, but the louder I played it the more I got to liking it. Cover or not, they do a great job with that song considering I still hate the original...
Sun never sets is pure CT sound, and Robin nails the vocals, as always...All strung out is still cool even though JR rehashed the lyrics from an older song of his. (I liked it more before I found that out.) Sing my blues away is cool and Do you believe me is awesome. Heart on the line and roll me, heard them for years, so... eh. LTNSY eh, kinda repetitive but fun. No Direction is ok, too.
It works well on mix cd's but I can tell Bun E. isn't there... I did not think I would really notice, but I do. It's alright, though as Daxx does well.
The video would look something like this: https://youtu.be/wO7cv6guJCI
I initially thought 'No Direction Home' was the single. Then 'When I Wake Up Tomorrow' came along. I agree, that's not a very good choice for single. 'Blood Red Lips', 'Sun Never Sets' or 'No Direction Home' would've been a better choice. My question is why didn't they release another single back last summer, like 'Blood Red Lips'? I suppose the record company has the final say.
It's a decent cd, but not one of their best. The Latest returned to my cd rotation this summer, still can't get enough of that one.
